Ted Olson
I was born in 1955 in Omaha, Nebraska. My parents divorced
when I was 5 and I was raised by a great-uncle. I graduated high school and was in the US Navy and attended North Carolina
State University for two years.
In 1979, I gave my life to Jesus and shortly thereafter received the gift of the Holy Spirit in my life.
In 1980, my wife, Sandra, and I were married. I had a career with the US Postal Service, which I retired from as Postmaster
of Poca, WV in 2009. I currently work for Duke University Medical Center and reside in Durham, NC. We have four
daughters, one which has gone on to heaven in 2008. We attend Life Point Church in Hillsborough, NC and I am on
the leadership team there.
In 1990, I began to feel that God was calling me to the mission field and in 1991 I went on my first
outreach to an island in the Bahamas. I was hooked. In 1992, I took my first trip to Romania with Operation Blessing.
I felt a connection with the people in Romania during that trip. I continued to go on yearly outreaches during the next
few years, going to various places around the world, including India, Kazakhstan, Panama, Costa Rica and Belize. In
1999, I had the opportunity to lead a youth group to Romania and knew that was where God wanted me. Over the next 15
years, I have been numerous times to Romania, working with Mission To Serve on many trips. I met Patricia at House Of
Hope in 2000 and saw the wonderful work she was doing. My wife accompanied me on some of the trips to Romania and we
both have a love for the people, especially the children.
Over the many years I have been involved with Mission To Serve, I have seen lives changed by the love and
compassion that many supporters have shown. There is still much to be done. Many still don't know about Jesus
and His love for them. Many can't read and don't have the availability of a Bible or someone to teach them.
Many live in dire poverty and sickness. Families are broken. God gives us, you and me, the ability and the resources
to touch lives and change them. With the power of His Holy Spirit, we can mend and restore lives. I am grateful
that Mission To Serve has given me the oportunity to be a part of this ministry and I encourage you to join us in reaching
the lost in Romania. Check the web pages to see how you can help. You can email me at tedo@lifepointnc.org.
